HOSPITAL BOARD ELECTION

Sir,—lit must be very pleasing to Mr McCready to have his name signed under the third portion of that statement, which "appeared" in Friday's Beacon and which reads as follows: "Collaboration with the Maori people with regard to future policy, in respect to their particular needs." Now let us go back to only one statement made by the same, person at the County Council meeting, as published in the Whakatane Beacon on the 27th day of June, 1941, which reads as follows: "The only way to get the Maori out of our hospital is to burn it down." I wonder what change of heart has taken place, or is it, that he thinks the past, has been forgotten? I would say to the Maori beware and take care, when you get such conflicting statements, by one looking for your vote. I say again to the Maori ask: He aka koe ti ki marama mai i o tikanga. Why not tell me clearly what you mean? Now Mr McCready if your heart has been softened, you have time in the next issue of the Beacon, to make your position more clear before the election. Yours etc., HARRY CARR.
