POLLS AMENDMENT ACT
Sir,—On reading Mr D. Alexander's letter in your paper, J was astounded at the accusations made by him against, tlie County Council and in particular against the County Clerk. Surely these accusations are. not true? I trust that the County Clerk will come forward and repudiate these statements to clear himself. If a satisfactory statement is not forthcoming I am afraid that I, as an active member of. the. Labour Party and a supporter of the recent Polls Amendment Act, will be obliged to bring the matter before the local branch, my intention being to have the matter referred to the Minister concerned requesting an inquiry: The County Clerk must not take up this dogmatic attitude simply because he disagrees with the new Polls Amendment Act. Jf these accusations of Mr Alexander's are true then the County Clerk cannot say that local Government is non-ipoli-tical. Yours etc., N. S. MAJOR.
