Mr W. L. Dixon, A.A. Patrol, has now taken up the position in Whakatane subsequent to the transfer, ence of Mr Edwards to> the Paeroa area. Mr Dixon, recently discharged from the army, was in charge of this district some 2% years ago. Mr and Mrs. R. Corcoran, of 18 Hawera Street, Whakatane, have received notification that their son, Roger, has succeeded in gaining his commission in the R.N.Z.A.F., whilst undergoing training at Calgary, Canada. Roger, who was 21 last April, was educated at both the Gisborne schools, and while in Whakatane, was employed at the Loan and Mercantile Company, before leaving for overseas. Our heartiest congratulations go to him on his promotion. Mr and Mrs G. Marsh formerly of Whakatane, but now of Putaruru, have received notification that their son, Ronald Howorth, who was schooled in Whakatane and had many friends here, has succeeded in gaining his commission in the R.N.Z.A.F. whilst undergoing train ing at Calgary, Canada. Ron, who is 20 years of age was employed by Messrs Prideaux and Bridger, accountants, before leaving for overseas. Our warmest congratulations.
