WOMEN'S DIVISION
TANEATUA BRANCH SIXTH ANNUAL MEETING The sixth annual meeting of the above Avas held in the County Chambers, Whakatane, on May 3, 1944, at 11 a.m. There Avere present Mesdames Gray, presiding, E. H. Hill, Marsden, Mitchell, E.. C. Haultain C. Wilson, Knight, A. E. Hill, Collins, King, Eivcrs, Jamieson, Prince, Miss Haultain and Mrs Joll, a member of the Dominion Advisory Board. The president Avel corned the delegates, and especially Mrs Joll, who has come from Havelock North to visit local branches. The president's report and the house'keeper-secre-tary's report were read and adopted, also the treasurer's statement of receipts and expenditure. The election of officers resulted as follows: — President: Mrs; Grey,, re-elected. Vice-presidents: Mrs E. G. Haultain and Mrs L. B. Smith. ■Secretary-Treasurer: Mrs Prince. Housekeeper-Secretary: Mrs Mitchell. AdA'isory Members: Mrs E. C. Haultain and Mrs Goodwin. Committee: Mesdames Grace, E. H. Hill and Barr. Mrs Gray Avas appointed the delegate to the next F.U. meeting. Delegates were: elected to the conference in July in the event of it being held, Mrs Prince, Mrs Mitchell and Mrs A. E. Hill being appointed. A reply Avas receded from the ManpoAver Officer, Rotorua, to Avhom the secretary had Avritten tAvice, stating that he had no suitable avoman at present for housekeeping duties AA'ith the Division. A reply Avas received from the Food Controller, stating , that no alteration in. the. rationing scheme Avas desirable at present,, and that more than, one application could be made during the. season. The president reported that she had had a request from Mrs Muir, who is in charge of the "Motherhood of Man" movement in this district, that domestic work should be found for some of these girls for several months at a time. Mrs Grey then introduced Mrs Joll, the W.D.F.U. representative on the Advisory Board. Mrs Joll described "Melrose," the beautiful home of Colonel and Mrs Adams, and made us realise more fully Avhat a magnificent gift it is. that has been given to the Division. The tAVO Rest Homes iioav in use are doing a great Avork in providing restful holidays for overworked and ailing Avomen. ,
Mrs Joll appealed to us, on behalf of the young people of to-day. She had great faith in the younger generation, but they were growing up in very difficult times, and it was important that they should, have the right ideas.
The president thanked Mrs Joll for her interesting talk, and expressed appreciation of the fact she had come so far to visit our branches. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
