FAREWELL AND WELCOME HOME COMMITTEE

The annual meeting of tlie above committee, was held in the Otalciri Hall on April 28, Mr Dunning pre*siding over a good attendance. Mrs Tickner, secretary-ltreasurer, presented the balance sheet which showed a very satisfactory financial 'position. Mr Dunning gave a full report of the work of the committee during the past year. A total of 30 men had been farewelled from the district. Six have been welcomjed home, two of whom were home on furlough. Much discussion took place regarding furlough men and those coming home on leave without pay, as it was the district's wish to give them a fitting welcome home from overseas. It was resolved, that in order to create a fund for this purpose, a public subscription list be made available in the district 'to those residents and friends wishing to support this. fund. The following committee was elected:— Chairman: Mr Kedgeley. Secretary-Treasurer: Mrs Tickner. Secretary and Treasurer Furlough Fund: Mr K. Mackerell. Committee.: Mesdames Lord, Mantell, ' Armstrong, Missen, Cristall, Peck, Smith, Mayo, Miss Chambers. Messrs Lord, Missen, Cristall, Armstrong, Peck, Foote, O'Brien, Fowler Ley, Mackerell.
