NO INCREASE
BOROUGH GENERAL RATE
In moving that the rates for the current year be struck at the same figure for last year (1/6 X 4<l) the Mayor, at the last meeting of the Borough Council said that the estimates had been passed by both committees and it was the desire of the Council to carry on the same total rate as last year. The only increase would be for the cemetery service which would l be
raised! from 39/- to 45/6 which barely covered costs.
In seconding,, Cr Canning said he was sure that the ratepayers generally would be peasantly surprised as most of them had anticipated a rise.
