THE WHAKATANE BRANCH
ANNUAL MEETING HELD
The best attended and most enthusiastic meeting of the local branch of the Labour Party was held in the King Street Hall on March 9, over 50 members being present. The president, Mr N. S. Major, in making his annual report thanked members for their support during the election campaign and pointed out that while Mr Jonasen had not been successful he was of the opinion that the candidate had made a lot of friends. The financial statement, read by the secretary proved that the branch was in a very financial position. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr N." S. Major; vice-president, Mr A. Fitzgerald; hon. secretary, Mr J. Whitehead; executive committee, t Mesdames Knowles, Carr, Major, Fitzgerald, Messrs Knowles, Ditchfield, Reid A very strong social committee was also formed to attend to the running of a series of dances during the coming winter mouths.
