MEETING AT WAIMANA
The annual meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women's Institute's Gardening Circle was held at Mrs Woolfield's: residence recently. There was a full attendance of members, and a new member, Mrs Heather, was welcomed. The minutes and report and balance! sheet were read by Mrs Cooper and passed. The raising of the subscription was discussed and 2/~ was decided on. The growing of winter lettuce and other greens was well discussed. A competition arranged by Mrs j Woolfield was tied for by Mrs King and Mrs Wylde. The winners of the points prizes for the past year were as follows: General competitions, Mrs J. Mitchell 1; Mrs Stevenson 2; Mrs Wylde 3. Best flower, Mrs Wylde 1; Mrs Stevenson 2; Mrs Hughes and Mrs J. Mitchell equal 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs Wylde 2; Mrs* Mitchell 3. The day's competitions were: Collection of six cut flowers, Mrs Mitchell 1;. Mrs King 2; Mrs Woolfield 3. Best, flower, Mrs Mitchell 1; Mrs Wylde 2; Mrs Woolfield 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Mitchell 1; Mrs Wylde 2; Mrs G. Mitchell 3. Members had an . enjoyable Avalk around the garden which was bright with autumn flowers. Mrs John Addison was elected as president unopposed and Mrs Cooper re-elected as secretary, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to both ladies for their help during the past year, which was greatly appreciated. Afternoon tea and many thanks to Mrs .Woolfield and hostesses closed the meeting.
