Salt Water Treatment Tara King, winner of the Well, ingtou Guineas and, the Auckland Christmas Handicap, but who went sore while contesting the Great Northern Derby, is now at Povirua, where lie is undergoing a course of salt water treatment, at the beach. Meeting to be Held The Taranaki Jockey Club has decided to hold its advertised meeting on February 26, notwithstanding the 1 fact that under railway and petrol restrictions the attendance of the public will be largely decreased. Work Resumed The Wellington and Grand National Steeplechase winner Foxiana has resumed track work at Awapuni after a paddock holiday of over a year. Change of Stable Mr Rosa, recently trained, by F. Gilchrist at Ellcrslie, has been transferred to Te Rapa, where he has joined A. Winder's team. This Mr Standfast—Lucy llose representative a half-brother to Lou Rosa, has not shown his true form since lie ran Expanse to a neck in a live furlongs llutter at Te Rapa as a two year old, but it may not be long before he starts on a winning career. A Veteran Jumper The Lucullus—Prosy gelding, Do/.■ie Bo 3', now rising 13 years, has resumed track work at Hastings, and will be. competing in steeplechase events during the winter. Patriotic Meetings The Minister of Internal Affairs has issued permits for tne patriotic meetings,, seven to racing clubs and three to trotting institutions. It is understood they will be used principally by Metropolitan bodies. For Late Autumn 1 Monte Cristo, winner last season of the Thompson Handicap and three other events owned, by the Hon. Elliot Davis and Mr O. Nicholson, is again in work at Takanhvi. Trainer T. Yerner hopes to have the Bronze Eagle gelding ready for late, autumn events. Still Increasing The Wellington Racing Club lias increased the stakes for its autumn meeting by £1700. The Autumn Handicap will be Avorth £2000. the Thompson and the Challenge Stakes £1000. Memorising the Colours Mr V. O'Brien, of Wellington, the newly appointed .judge for tin-. Waikato Racing Club has lately been attending . northern meetings in order to become conversant with the. racing colours of the Auckland Province. For the Winter The Canterbury hurdler Dividend, has again 'joined George Ridgeway\s team at Riccurton in view of winter racing.
