PASTURES LOST
LOW-LYING FLOOD WATERS A point which many farmers on. the low-lying areas of the Rangitaiki are fearing is that unless the water drains away mc|rtJ readily than it has ovofr the past few days, thousands of acres of first-class pasture jand will be ruined,. Already the water which has become humid under the influence of the hot sun has commenced' to sour and the stench in the areas between Awakeri and Taneatua is l almost unbearable. Should the decomposition of the pastures become general under the conditions ruling there will be another lidded loss to the already worried settlers and land owners.
