BOY'S DEATH
SEQUEL TO RIVER ACCIDENT EVIDENCE AT INQUEST Tlic inquest into the circumstances surrounding the death ol tlie ten year old boy, Victor Charles Alien, who lost his life in the Wha T katanc River oil February 11 last was. concluded before Mr G. A. Brabant, coroner, yesterday. Evidence by Francis Michael lis and lan Stuart MicKenzie playmates of the deceased, who had been with him on the afternoon of the accident showed that he had made an attempt to save his home-made raft which had drifted out into the channel and Avas last seen swimming with it in ail endeavour to bring it towards Elvers Beach. One lad had gone for help. s
Constable Thomassen gave cvidcncc as to the search for and final recovery of the body. The coroner found that deceased in an effort, to save the raft which had drifted into the current had got into difficulties and was accidentally drowned.
