CRICKET TO THE FORE

THE remarkable interest and enthusiasm shown in cricketing locally over the past year has found fitting.culmination in the winning of one. of the major South Auckland trophies—the Attrill Shield, which was brought to the Rangitaiki for the firse time since 1920. In extending our warmest congratulations to the Association on the splendid standard of play it has attained we have also m mind the initiative and progressive; spirit which has animated its members over the past two years and which latterly has instigated the erection of the first sports pavilion, in the Domain. Public interest in the Attrill match which was remarked on by the visitors can also be directly attributed to the keenness of the members themselves who have done much to build up the game and restore it to its old place of prominence.
