FIRST OF TOJO'S EMPIRE

THE fall of Kwajalein and Ujae atolls in the Marshall Island group, represents the first of the possessions of Imperial Japan to fall into the hands of the Allied forces —and the taste is good. The move represents the first avenging step also towards Tokio and after having tn dured the tremendous losses in the East the news has been hailed with delight. The long-overdue war of attrition is about to commence and Japan the home of th 3 cherry blossom, yet the breeder of fighting men who are veritable fiends of cruelty and destruction is about to feel the sting of the Allied flail. The first foothold on Japanese territory represents the turning of the tide which must gain in momentum as the weighter commitments in Europe diminish. Unlike the European war however this will be no landslide victory. Rather it will be a long and bitter struggle in which the Jap will have had two years start to consolidate himself and spread abroad his propaganda doctrines in the strongholds of his newly-won conquests.
