SUM OF £200 RAISED LADY (IODIVA'S RrDE : The much" publicised ride of 'Lady* Godiva' through the; Strand on Christmas Eve netted just £58 14s ;kl for the special V.A.D. building fund. Her Majesty in a special In-t terview with a BEACON rcpresen- , tative. pronounced herself as being thrilled to the luiir with the result, and she has. now no misgivings about 1 her decision to leave Coventry and make her trip to Whakatano. Her singular appearance provoked considerable comment amongst the hundreds, of spectators though there were few who doubted that the 'hair' hid anything other than a kilted figure of masculine proportions,. The winner of the' lucky identity ticket was Mr Robbins of Thornton, who promptly redonated the £5 prize to the 'cause.'
