WRESTLERS CAPERS
A NOTE FROM THE PACIFIC KEITH HOLLIES SUCCESS We have cribbed the following extract from one of those homely pa pel's produced by the: troops in the Pacific war theatre, and local readers Avill be pleased to note the mention made of. Keith Hollis., of Wha'katane. who has apparently not forgoLten any of the tricks of wrestling. Two Now Zealand ex-professional wrestlers mauled each other silly, to the delight of the spectators, in a preliminary to the bouts at Triangle Gardens last, night. The pair were. Keith Hollis, 193, of Whakatane, New Zealand, and Arthur Read, 190, of Gisborne,. The Kiwis showed the crowd all the wrestling senanigans in the book, fighting just as much out of, the ring as inside l . Read was adept at sly tricks, almost succeeding twice in attempts to remove Hollis's pants. Another time he tried, to pull Referee Tommy Pileher's feet from under him. Frequently, he would ikick his opponent in the side and grin gleefully at the crowd.
The bout was stopped after the fourth round, with one fall chalked up for each. Read was badly battered, and Hollis had. blood streaming down his face.
