FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICE
THE annual appeal of the St. John Ambulance Association takes place: to-day—the date which marks the fiftieth anniversary of this remarkable organisation in New Zealand. In view of the proposal to construct a new hall to act as headquarters for the local units the public is urged to give liberally by way of donations and cash.
A.T.C. Promotion The honour of being the first member to enter the R.N.Z.A.F- from the Whakatane Squadron of the A.T.C. goes to Cadet M. Muir who was notified to entrain for a South Island R.N.Z.A.F. station on December 8. Several other cadets have enlisted and are awaiting mobilisation which, by reason of their being members of the A.T.C. should come shortly.
Wolf Cubs Camp One of the. first camps for members of the Whakatane; Wolf Cub Pack takes place this week-end, when it is anticipated that D.S.M. Miller and Cub Mistress Dean will have something like 25 young hopefuls at Ohope Beach for the two days. The boys are anticipating a good time, and we are confident that they will not be disappointed.
