WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT EDGECUMBE
The monthly meeting of the Edgecumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday, Mrs foods on presiding over a good attendance. The meeting opened with the Ode to Friendship and Mrs. Hodson read the Aspirations. Arrangements were made for the children's party to be held in December. A long service badge was presented to Mrs Snelling. Mrs : Hudson gave a very interesting and ! comprehensive report of the. Goun- ! cil meeting held recently at Tancatua. A wall competition was won by Mrs Snelling. The roll call "impromptu Speeches." was responded to by all present and proved both amusing and instructive. Two songs were sung bj- Mrs Shaw in her usual delightful manner accompanied by Mrs Goodwin., and were much enj joyed. A box lecture "An lcele.ss lee | Chest" was given by Mrs Learning [and was followed witli interest by [ail. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Learning. The competitions were won as follows: A re-knitted article* Mrs (hang 1; Mrs Malpas 2. Red, white and blue posy,* Mrs Rountreel; Mrs I'lavel 3: Mrs Learning 3. Soft toy, Mi.s Malpas l; Mrs Robb 2. Be.st liower, Mrs Goldsmith and Mrs Sne.liing 1; Mrs Crang and Mrs Wilson 2; Mrs Malpas and Mis Learning 3. Best rose,, Mrs Crang 1; Mrs ■ Malpas 2; Mrs Wilson 3. i Afternoon tea was served by the t hostesses for the day Mrs Cole. Mrs Moody and Mrs Rountree. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
