Golf With Oval Balls
Clubs seemed to be able to carry on tlie game in a wonderful way in .spite ol' the shortage of ball supplies, said the chairman of the New Zealand Golf. Association (Sir Alexander Roberts) at the association's annual meeting in Wellington. Theve was an extreme shortage of balls. He did not know whether golfers were hitting bails straighter now than they did, but they were certainly not fussy ji.s they used lo be about the quality of the ball they nsed. "Formerly ,1 'knew players who would not use a ball for more than one roundv" lie said, "but those people could not play Jong under t;he present conditions. Golfers., however, get as much pleasure in playing the game now, whether the ball be round or oval." He hoped clubs would be able to carry on until supplies became more adequate.
