FATAL ACCIDENT

OPOTIKI MAN'S DEATH A fatal accident occurred on the corner of Church Street and Anzac Place, Opotiki,. last Friday Avlien an old man. Mr John Anderson, was knocked down by a service car driven by Mr S. Drake. The service car was backing at the time, and MiAnderson, who had. just stepped oil the pavement near the Masonic Hotel was knocked down and the vehicle passed over him. The injured man sustained a broken leg and. a fractured, skull and was removed to the Opotiki Hospital, death occurring shortly after admission. The late Mr Anderson, who was over 70 years of age}, was a familiar figure in Opotiki and has lived there for many years. He owned a farm at Tablelands, but in recent years he became very infirm and has been residing in Opotiki. Deceased, was rot married.
