WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT EDGECUMBE The October meeting of the Eclgecumbe Women's Institute was held in the form of a garden party at Mrs L. r. Wilson's homo. Favoured with a pleasant sunny afternoon,, a good attendance of members met and enjoyed a varied programme of entertainment. Mrs Hods ; on presided and after formal business had been dealt with, two delegates Mrs Hodson and Mrs Mai pas were appointed to attend the Council meeting to be held at Taneatua. Mrs Hodson then presented a gift and shoulder spray to Mrs Snelling, producer of the prize winning' play in the recent Drama Festival, on behalf of all members of the cast. Mrs Snelling briefly replied thanking all for the kindly gift and also all who had helped to make the Drama Festival such a success. Mrs Anderson then in a happy | little speech, congratulated the Drama Circle on its recent success, on behalf of members of the Institute not taking part. Games and competitions were; then enjoyed the prize winners being as follows:—Chain stepping : Mrs Hodson;. Ladder golf: Mrs Burgess; Nail driving: Mrs List; Maize Guessing: Mrs Fowell; Dinner: Mrs List; Treasure hunt: Mrs Hodson; Best Ranunculii: Mrs Goodwin 1, Mrs Crang 2; Best flower: Mrs Flavell 1. Mrs Crang 2„ Mrs Snelling 3; Chocolate butter sponge: Mrs Flavell 1, Mrs Learning 2, M,rs Snelling 3. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the committee and a pleasant afternoon ended.
