INSTITUTE MEETING The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nu'kuhou Womens 'Institute was held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Hewitt presided over a very good attendance of members. The singing of "Comrades and Friends" opened the meeting, after which the president thanked all members for their help at the birthday meeting.
lit Avas announced that Mrs Stewart of AVhakatanc would g'iye Arts and Crafts demonstrations in the AVaimana Hall on November 3rd next Institute day, commencing at 10.30 a.m. Mrs AVoolfield gave n further report on the Dominion Conference. Four new members Avere welcomed to the Institute; Mrs MeDonald, Mrs. D. Boynton, Mrs Heather and Miss N. Mitchell. A silver collection Avas taken up for the Leper appeal and £2 ]3s resulted.
The roll call Avas Sandwich Fillings Jor School Lunches, and was well responded, to. It was decided to hold a dance on the 21st October to raise funds i'or the Institute to enable it to send parcels to the men overseas who have left AYaimana and Nukuhou North. Bring and buy stalls will be held also. Members of the Drama Circle then presented a much enjoyed play, entitled "Great Crime," the players received, a great ovation. The day's competitions were:— Best lettuce: Mrs I. Savage 1; Mrs Slansbury 2. Jar of marmalade: Mrs I. Savage 2: Mrs N. Clark 2; Mrs T. AV. AVardlaw 15. Best vegetable: Mrs Hewitt J; Mrs Stansbury 2; Mrs F. Bell 3. Best single flower: Mrs G. Mitchell 1; Mrs F. Bell 2; Mrs Stansbury 3. Best double flower: Mrs T. AVardlaw 1; Mrs Stevenson 2; Mrs F.
