Wliiirf labour has been so short in Sydney tliat soldiers have been detailed to assist., bringing the total of busy men to .'MOO. One shipowner says another MOO could be used. Men work 00 to 70 hours a week. The Minister for Supply and Shipping (Mr Beasley) declares that the port has never been so busy, and there is no possibility of dispensing with the soldiers. The shortage cannot be made up by civilians because all fit men are already in war service. Volunteer week-end, squads help.
