DAIRY FACTORY BLAZE
OUTBREAK IN GOODS' STORE
BRIGADE'S GOOD SAVE
Serious damage was averted by the prompt action of the Rangitaiki Cooperative Dairy Co's tire brigade, in the early hours of last. Saturday morning, when 'it extinguished a blaze in the bulk store before the lire could reach unmanageable proportions. The alarm was given by the night watchman at 2 a.m. and, under the Superintendent, Mr A. Becker, a skeleton force of firemen was quickly oil the job. A sheet of ilame Avhich seemed, to fill the entire doorway greeted them when they entered the store, but the blaze was soon in hand and it was found that it had been largelyc onfined to the ceiling and walls in proximity to a pile, of binder twine. There was little damage to stock either by fire or water. The cause of the blaze is- not known. The incident, shows the efficiency of the volunteer brigade recruited from resident members of the staff.
