Alvington, Gloucestershire-, England, Mr Fred Smedley,. late Whakatane D.H.S. now Officer, New Zealand Navy, writes:* "AVe arrived in Sydney at 'i p.m. ,1 took a taxi to the Feathers Hotel. On stepping out ol' the. taxi, .someone tapped me on the shoulder aniL. said. "Good old New Zealand,"' Iti was Lord Bledisloe who happened* to be passing just then with Lady Bledisloe. He asked me my name# and where I came frofn. He remembered W hakatane well.
