PREVENTION OF FLOODING "The Lands Department dredga lias been employed 'in repairing the severe damage caused by flooding: on Station Road. An endeavour has been made to create a stopbank on the western side of the. road -but; hardly sufficient spoil Avas available to do this satisfactorily. I am seeking the approval of the District. En-, gineer to cart additional spoil toi strengthen the weaker places as soon: as possible as another 'break-through* in tlfe locality would cause muchi greater damage tljan on previous, occasions. As it. would also be iru the interests of the Lands Department, which has the responsibility* of the maintenance of the drain on* the. western side of the road, L V'ould suggest that representations be made to that Department for assistance in carrying out furtherpreventive work at this po'int."—Extract from Acting County Engineer's report at last meeting of the? council.
