—————<J. MEETING AT EDGECUMBE The monthly meeting ol' the Edge-! cuinbe Women's Institute l \v;is held oil Tuesday, July 20th. Mrs Hodson presided, and there was. a good attendance. The meeting opened with the Ode to Friendship and the Aspirations were read by the president. Remits lor the forthcoming Dominion Conference to be. held, at Gisbornc were dealt with. It was decided to enter a play at the Drama Festival to be held at Edgecumbe in September. The roll call "A Verse of an English Poem or Song" was answered by all present. Mrs Burgess gave a most interesting demonstration of the making of artistic brooches ami posies from bread. This was followed with interest and Mrs Burgess was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competition •winners were: — Best Flower: Mrs Hodson 1, Mrs List 2. Mrs Malpas and Mrs Learning equal 3. Best Violets: Mrs Flavel 1,, Mrs Learning 2, Mrs Russell 3. Quince Jelly: Mrs Spiers 1, Mrs List 2, Mrs Learning 3. Knitted Scarf: Mrs Wilson 1, Mrs Learning 2, Mrs List 3. Community singing, led by Mrs Jespcrson accompanied by Mrs Havel completed an enjoyable programme which concluded with the National Anthem.
