Chapman, the popular and energetic manager of the Re<gent. and Grand Theatres, last Tuesday inaugurated a Movie Quiz session which may bid. fair to be regular! j r included in t]ie town's diver* sions. As Mr Chapman introduced Mr Wish. Winn as Master of Ceremonies he stressed the fact that the session Avn.s an experiment Avhich, so far" as lie kneAv, Avas new to New Zealand. He therefore .craved the indulgence of his audience should even glaring mistakes crop up in the early sessions. "This is just as iicaa- to you as it is to us, and we av t i 11 do our best to improve as avc go along." he said. Mr Wish Winn then explained that each Aveek six questions of a topical movie, character Avould be asked of the audience; each question carrying a 5/- prize. Thus. 30/- prize money would be available each wedU: should any question be unanswered the prize, would become a "Jack Pot" amounting to 10/- the next AAcek, and so on until ultimate l ly ansAvered. The speaker further explained that he session was added to the usual programme, so that, people not interested Avould in no Avay be dep rived of their full money's Avorth of entertainment. That considerable interest Avas displayed even in the first session AA*as illustrated by the fact that twenty-six prizes were awarded ranging from 4/5 to Bd. Practically all of the audience competed and all the questions Avcre answered. The management of the. Regent and Grand iiwite everyone to be present next Tuesday to their benefit in both fun and finance.
