NOT FORGOTTEN
MEN WHO WERE LEFT CHRISTMAS PARCEL COLLECTION At the district welcome home to men on leave in the Edgecumbe area, which took place last Tuesday evening it was considered that no social of its nature could be held without a thought for those men who were still in the Middle East. To this end it was decided by general consent to stage a tarpaulin muster for the purpose of providing Christmas parccis for the boys still on service. The fund was opened with a subscription of £5 from a returned soldier of the. last war and embraced practically evei-ybody in the room. The total amount collected amounted to £44. One of those who subscribed was a man invalided back from the Middle East who not only tossed in his pound, but came to the chairman afterwards and offered to contribute more if it was needed. "I want to do this," he sai<d', "because I know from experience that the boys appreciate those parcels more than 1 anything else you could do for them."
