Will Not Combine At a meeting of the Rangitaiki Union held last evening the decision was reached not to combine with the AVhakatane Rugby Union in a challenge fox- the Hurunui Apanui Shield. Cake and Flower Sale The attention of the public is diawn to a special cake and ilower sale to be held in the lied CrossPatriotic shop on Saturday,. July 24. Donations of ilowers, eake.s and other cookery will be much appreciated, and can be left at the shop. Rabbit Poisoning at Te Teko Mr J. W. Lyon. Government Rabbiter. advises that the "local body reserves" situated in the Te Teko area have recently been poisoned. Such procedure is done, periodically for the destruction of rabbits, and his present finding is that the pest has been considerably reduced. Smoke Concert Planned At a well attended meeting held last evening at which Mr W. S. Henderson presided it was decided to entertain all returned men of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. at a smoke concert in the King Street Hall on Saturday, 31st July at 8 p.m. Strong committees were set up to complete arrangements.
