SOLDIERS' PAPER
THE N.Z.E.F TIMES EX BEACON REPORTER'S PART . The tribute paid l recently by Lieut-General Sir Bernard Freyberg, to the N.Z.E.F. Times, who said it was the best newspaper in Egypt and was a truly remarkable production, will interest our readers by reason of the fact that associated with the firs)t Editor (Mr E. G. Webber formerly of the Rotorua Post) was Mr H. L. Heatley, for some time member of the Beacon Literary Staff. Mr Heatley who came from the Waikato left with the Fifth Echelon. He now occupies the position of editor of- the important periodical mentioned, a tribute to his* capacity and literary powers, Ift is interesting to note that, the paper was financed by the Patriotic Board and; is also sent to hospitals and ships. Recently* the Board: lias purchased, at. a cost of. £1000 r a complete printing press for use in the Pacific area, so- that our men there may be given home and overseas news, as well a.s local news, by a paper catering especially for them.
