GUM BOOTS
NEW ZEALAND MADE ARTICLES DISTRIBUTED SOON The following information relative to the supply of gum boots in the country has been received by Mr W. Sullivan, M.P., from the Minister of Supply:— The present bare."market has been occasioned by the complete lack of supplies from overseas for over 12 months and at this stage I am unable to indicate any, existing source from which urgent demands could bc> met. However, it would appear that in the future some, provision will be forthcoming from overseas but no advice has yet, been received as to when such supplies can be expected. ~- However, the local manufacture of gum boots has' been undertaken in Christchurch, but as this is a new venture it will some little, time before adequate relief can be exjiected from that, source. The need for workers engaged in wet and unpleasant occupations is fully realised and yo,u can be assured" that when supplies do come forward from any source, full publicity will be given and the distribution thereof so controlled as to ensure. that only necessitous cases are supplied.
