WASTE RUBBER RECLAMATION

IN a circular letter to the local Patriotic Committee, the organiser of the Auckland Waste Reclamation Committee draws attention to the fact that throughout the Province there are still large collections of used tyres and mixed rubber lying at garages and depots, deteriorating in the weather. A special appeal is made to the proprietors of all such collections to get in touch with the local Waste Reclamation Committee, of which there are 120 and have the rubber immediately railed to the Reid Rubber plant at Penrose, Auckland. This mill has now fche: necessary machinery installed and is producing the muchneeded articles. This appeal is particularly applicable to Whakatane where considerable dumps of rubber have been lying about now for well over a year under such conditions which cannot be expected to improve the substance or the quality.
