THREE HUNDRED GIFT PARCELS

THOSE who have had occasion to visit the County Council office recently would have been struck with the growing pile of gift "parcels assembled there for despatch overseas to soldiers under , the Patriotic, Scheme. As stated in another article elsewhere in this issue the total' of 339 parcels, which are being despatched to-day represent all parts of the district including such far away places as Ruatahuna and Te Whaiti. The parcels are in the main a collection of non-perishable foods (tinned) comforts and confectionery. All are carefully packed and sewn securely in cloth of sacking. The present collection gives some indication of the periodic consignments which go forward from this district.
