EIGHT MONTHS' KILLINGS
The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominium's Freezing Works from Ist October to 29th May, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings now total 10,534,077 carcases, compared with 10,59(5,567 carcases, to 30 th May last season, this being a decrease of 62,-190 carcases. AYether mutton killings are' 582.6-19 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,66:3,007 earcases, compared with 758,120 and 1,922,44.6 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses, arc as follows:— North Island Lamb 5,676,157 (5,597,7-15) Wether mutton 526,240 ( 675,361) Ewe mutton 1,153,983 (1,138,008) South Island Lamb 4,857,920 (4,998,822) Wether mutton 56,-109 ( 82,75.9) Ewe mutton 509,024 ( 784,438) Frozen beef production has reached 469,698 quarters - compared Avith 477,989 quarters last season.
