PADRE'S LETTER
FROM ITALIAN PRISON CAMP
REV. KEITH WATSON WRITES
Writing from the Italian prison camp where he is stationed the Rev. Keith Watson who was padre to the Nj.w Zealand Forces in the Middle East, intimates to two Whakatane friends that he is fit and well.
"This is a big camp," he says, "and contains South African and New Zealand officers. The life in the camp is well organised, there being a comprehensive educational syllabus. There is a wealth of talent and players produced are excellent. We have ten chaplains at present— seven South Africans, two Church of Scotland and myself the only New Zealander. We have a kirk session comprising a Presbyterian Minister and. five elders, various religious lectures are given as well as morning and evening services on Sunday. Our men have put up a great performance and I shall never forget their courage and bearing in the desert campaign. The morale over here is high."
