Library Grant Increased'

The. Borough Council has agreed to increase the annual grant, to the Municipal Library from £10 to £35.

Chairman's Honorarium

The. honararium for the Chairman of the Hospital Board, was fixed at yesterday's meeting at £100 for tlxe

ensuing year, the same figure as in the past.

New Library Books

At the monthly meeting of the Public Library' Committee the following books were selected: Volcanic Isle, W. Fleiksher; Mr Middleton's Moscow, Jno. England; The Carrington Incident, Niven Buseh; Meadowsweet, Oliver Sandys; Penhalow, G. Heyer. Subscribers should take note of the new library hours, as from Monday 17th ■■••May, 1943, which are 2.30 p.rii. to 3.30 p.m. instead of 2 to 3 p.m. as previously.

Local Man Repatriated

Word has just been received, that among the men to be. repatriated from Prisoner of War camps in Italy is Driver Ed. L. Dullot, of Whakatane. Dr Dullot. who formerly worked as a driver for Messrs Brabant Bros. left with the Second Echelon ami was captured, 12 months ago. Cabling Mrs Parkinson of Whakatane, where he boarded, before leaving for the front, he states that he is fit and well and expects to be

coming home soon.
