NATIVE RATES
COLLECTION IN COUNTY
DRAINAGE DEPT'S SHARE
Acknowledging the Council's .letter on the matter of native rates the Land Drainage Department has responded stating that the drainage native rates struck 1942/43 were £1705 5s 6d being special £1082 16s lid and general £622 8s 7d. The native rate collection during 1942/43 (all years) had been £2759 9s 2d of which Mr Stewart had paid in £1967 lis 3d, and £791 17s lOd had been paid direct, to office. The County Clerk reported that Native rates struck for 194.2/43 were £3995 16s lid. Mr Stewart's Native; rate collection in 1942/43 (all years) was £3764 2s 2d. It. was resolved that Mr Stewart be congratulated on the result and that application be made to' the Land Drainage Department for payment of half, of Mr Stewart's salary. The chairman explained that Mr Stewart's salary was £341 per annum and the Land Drainage l Department paid half of such salary to £325 per annum.
