ANNUAL GOLF MEETING

PROSPECTS FOR SEASON

The annual meeting of the. Waimana Golf Club was; held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday e\'ening. Mr Ducker presided. The report and balance sheet AA r ere presented and adopted. The subscriptions are the. same as last, season, gents £1 10s and ladies £1. The opening day Avas. fixed for May 9th.

The election of officers for the ensuing year followed: President, Mr L. Ducker; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Wylde; A'ice-p residents, Messrs M. King, A. K. Bell, H. Bell T. Ward] aw and E. P. Wool field; committee. Mrs M. King, Mrs J. D. WardlaAv, Mrs Wylde, Mr J. D. Wardlaw (captain) and president and secrctarA r .

A working bee Avas arranged to prepare the links for the opening day, Avhich concluded the meeting. GARDENING CIRCLE The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women's Institute gardening circle Avas. held, at Mrs Hughes home, Waimana, last Wednesday afternoon. The members AA T ere presided OA*er by Mrs John Addison., and Mrs Cooper read the minutes of the previous meeting. A genera! discussion on the drying and preserving of beans, proved most interesting. Mrs Addison gaA r e members floAve.r and vegetable seeds collected from her own garden, oth-> er members are saA'ing seeds for distributing among members.

A competition guessing the names of flower and shrub leaves was won Mrs King and Mrs Wyldc and Mrs Mitchell second. A reading on gardening hints was given by Mrs Wyldc. After afternoon tea had been served by Mrs- King and, Mrs Wyldc, members walked round the garden and gathered seeds. The flower beds were bright with autumn blooms the lily pond nndi fountain being a great attraction.

The day's competitions were as follows: Best, bloom, Mrs Mitchell 1; Mrs Hughes 2; Mrs Wvlde 3. Best vegetable, Mrs Hughes 1; Mrs Wyldc 2; Mrs Mitchell 3. Bowl of floating flowers, Mrs Wyldc 1; Airs Hughes 2; Mrs Cooper 3.

Mrs Addison thanked Mrs. Hughes and the hostesses and. Mrs B. Wardlaw for acting as .judge, which clos-. Ed a most pleasant afternoon.
