LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
APRIL MEETING HELD
The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held in Knox Hall on Tuesday afternoon last. Mrs W. Sullivan presided over a small attendance of members and friends. Many apologies were received from members absent on holidays. The Rules and Objects of the League were read followed by the League's prayer and special prayers for peace.
Mrs Miles Hamill then, read a short article containing the motto for the month 'Do not pass on, thai which is not your own.'
Mrs Appleby contributed an article by Sir Frederick Treves entitled 'A curc for nerves,' in a very vivid manner. The patient described her devastating symptoms, and the effect on herself and family, and then relates the cure, by observation of the courage and calmness displayed by a patient in the same hospital who underwent a major operation. Mrs Rowan contributed a short article 'A study of Mr Mackenzie King, Prime Minister of Canada' which was very interesting. Mrs Ken Schofield, delighted the audience by the pianoforte solos "Prelude in C' by Bach and a 'Walt/ by Brahms.'
Mrs E. Armstrong gave an elocutionary item 'The Lady from the West' for which she was, warmly applauded, and for an encore the little poem 'Her Naughty Boy.'
Afternoon tea was dispensed by two members, after which the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
