BAY OF PLENTY UNION

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union was held on Saturday at Whakatane, theRotorua representative, Mr L. Clarke, attending. Also present were delegates representing: Tauranga, Rangitaiki, Opotiki and Whakatane. The election of officers, resulted: Patron: Mr F. J. Burt (Rangitaiki); Vice-Patron: Mr L. Clarke (Rotorua); President: Mr A. E. Spratt (Te Puke); Vice-Presidents: the Presidents of all Sub-Unions;- Secretary Treasurer: Mr W. S. Henderson (Whakatane); Auditor: Mr J. Ruddy (Rotorua); Solicitor: Mr G. Otley (Whakatane); Executive: Messrs F. J. Burt, J. Guinness (Tauranga), L. Clarke, W. Burrett (Opotiki), and F. Darvill (Whakatane); Maori re-* presentative: Mr A. O. "Stewart (Whakatane); Selectors: Messrs W. Burrett, W. Scott (Rotorua) and G. Fisher (Tauranga). The draw for the Hurunui Apanui Shield, at, present held by Tauranga, was as follows: Rotorua Sub-Union to have first challenge match, other games to be played by Whakatane.Rangitaiki combined, and OpotikiApanui combined. The first game is scheduled for July 24, with the other matches to be played on August 7, August 21 and September 4. The draw for the. Shalfoon Shield was left to the executive. It was decided to contact the Waikato Union to> arrange a match bewecn Bay of Plenty and Waikato, to be held at Rotorua. A similar match was cancelled last year at the last moment by Waikato. Failing a satisfactory arrangement, the secret tary was authorised to see if. a match could be arranged with another sub-union. A meeting of the Referees!' Asso-» ciation was held at the close of the annual meeting, the election of officers resulting: President: Mr G.. Fisher (Tauranga); Vice.-Presjden.t: Mr R. Mason; Secretary-Treasurer: Mr R. H. Woolliams (Whakatane).
