A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT
The Theodore Roosevelt Bird Sanctuary at Long Island, founded in memory of the great president's fondness of birds, began in 192.S as a dreary tin can guilty in which there were very few birds. To-day, says Forest and Bird, it is a haven of rest for both birds and men. The j gullv has been converted into a delightful place full of trees that provide food, and shelter for the 150 species of birds to be fQund there. Each year it is visited by over 15,OUO people, who go there to learn how to attract birds, to farms and homes. Sanctuaries such as this would be a boon to New Zealand cities, and like, the Theodore Roosevelt. Sanctuary, could be established it small cost.
