Brodie joined the Royal Australian Air Force when war came, and eventually served in England as a sergeant ob:::'i.A'e r. Alter an operation in July he was pos-ted missing, and among his possessions was a letter to the boys of his school, including the following I i nes Almighty and all-present Power, Short is the prayer 1 make to Thee, 1 do not a>::k in battle hour For any shield to .cover me. Tlr. 1 vast unalterable way From which the stars do not depart May not be turned, a.vde to stay The bullet flying at my heart. 1 ask no help to strike my J'oe,, 1 seek no petty victory here, The enemy I hate, I know To Thee is also dear. But this J pray, be at my side When death is drawing through the sky. Almighty God- who also died Teach me the way that. I should die. Later Airman Brodie was reported probably killed.
