DROUGHT NARROWLY AVERTED
THE prolonged dry spell has broken, bringing a welcome relief to the parched lands at Onepu and Galatea where the position was fast becoming serious, and refreshing the dairying lands of the Bangitaiki and adjoining valleys. This morning's measurements show that over three and a half inches have fallen since the first rain on Wednesday, and as a result we should see an immediate rise in production which since the middle of January had shown a rapid decline . The rain according to one farmer on the plains came just in the "nick of time."
