CIVIC GATHERING HELD A further gathering in honour of a number of men from the district who are now on leave from camp, took place in , the . Borough Council Chambers last Wednesday evening, when His Worship the Mayor made presentations to Telegraphist J. Francis (Navy) and Leading Aircraftsman Fred Huniter and 1 Pat Butler. Speeches were also, made by Messrs McCalllum (R.S.A.), Mr W. Sullivan M.P., land Mr S. S. Shapley (Farewell Committee). Mrs W. Sullivan on behalf of the Ladies Patriotic Committee made the usual presentation of an individual parcel of knitted goods, and £2 to each man, each of whom responded expressing his gratitude. The committee would appreciate it if the families of servicemen on leave would adtvise some member of the Farewell Committee of the fact in order that none will be overlooked. It is the earnest hope of the committee to honour all men from this district with the usiual farewell gesture which has been extended to hundreds in the past.
