CEMETERY SITE
QUESTION OF ACCESS
PROPERTY OWNER'S DIFFI-
CULTY
Discussing the proposed new cemetery site at the Borough Council meeting the Mayor said that Mr Melville had complained that the access from his property for the new cemetery had cut off access to his property in this locality. The position had been inspected by the Clerk in company with Mr Melville and the Foreman-Engineer and' it was suggested that access could be preserved both to the Council and to Mr Melville by altering the boundary at the southern end of the site. This would reduce the area by approximately 1 acre, which would require to be transferred back to Mr Melville. It would appear reasonable to preserve the owner's access if at all possible.
In a letter to the County Council the Borough Council had set out the difficulty outlined above and stated that it was further proposed that the cost of survey and legal expenses estimated at £20 be borne by the establishing authorities. It was considered that far more than £20 would be payable in compensation for this additional area, and the Borough Council had agreed that with the concurrence of ,thc
County Council it Avill agree to "the alteration of the boundary as suggested herein.
Both County and Borough authorities agreed to the suggested amendment and the terms.
