GIRL GUIDES FUNCTION

A pleasant garden party held in the grounds of Mrs Iv. Eggers' residence King Street, resulted in a substantial sum being raised for the Vhakatane Girl Guide Company last Saturday afternoon.

. The District Commissioner, Mrs F. Gartshore, Avelcomed the visitors and later presented the prizes which had been Avon during the afternoon. The function Avhich Avas well attended Avas yet a further indication of the progress and consolidation of the Guide movement locally and reflected the greatest credit upon those Avho Avere responsible for organising it. Lieuts Armstrong and Reardon were in charge of the Guides and Brown Owl Ramson and Tawny Owl Menary in charge of the Brownies.

Competition results were as under: Clock Golf, Maureen - Dines; Croquet, Margaret Back; Taipo, Betty Menary. , Guessing competitions: Groceries, Mr B. Watts; Chocolates, Pauline Chadwick; Leg of Mutton, Mrs J. Wilson*; Chopping Board, Mrs Ramson; Book, Miiss Ramson; Tennis, Miss D. Reardon and Mr Eggers.
