E.P.S. CONTROL
COUNTY AND BOROUGH AREAS
QUESTION OF CO-ORDINATION
Writing to tlie Whakatane Borough Emergency Precautions Service Committee held last Aveek ~tlie District Controller urged that consideration should be given to some, form of amalgamation between the Borough and County E.P.S. Services. Mr Barry replied that Col. West had raised this matter, with him some months ago and had renewed his request in a discussion after the recent 'blackout' trial. Tlic Regional Commissioner was most, insistent that something be done. To this end he (Mr Barry) had discussed the matter with Mr J. L. Burnett, the County Chief Warden, and it was "considered that the position could be met by the appointment of a Central Committee comprising two representatives each from the County and Borough Services. This could act as a co-ordintaing committee to operate from time to time when considered necessary. After a Brief discussion the meeting decided to agree to the tion of a co-ordinating committee, that the r Chief Warden and Secretary be appointed as representatives of the Borough and that, the County E.P.S. be requested to appoint tw r o similar representatives.
