CROQUET

NEW SEASON OPEN TANEATUA VISITORS ATTENP On Wednesday afternoon last in ideal weather, the Whakatane Croquet Club opened itls lawns for the season. There was a good attendance of members and several visitors from Taneatua. Mrs Shaw (President), expressed, pleasure at seeing so many present and welcomed the Taneatua ladies and hoped all would spend a very pleasant afternoon. The lawns and surroundings are in excellent order for which she wished to compliment the 1 caretaker Mr Hourigan. Calling on Mrs Burgess to play the first ball she then declared the lawns open. Progressive croquet was played, winners of prizes being: Mrs Moore (Taneatua) and Mrs Hellyar (Whakatane) .1 A daintj- afternoon tea was served. after which thn president presented the prizes. Mrs Moore thanked Whakatane for the very pleasant afternoon and hoped some members would be able to come to Taneatua to their opening.
