SECOND LIBERTY LOAN
MODERATE DISTRICT RESPONSE
To date the sum of £4740 has been subscribed by district residents to the 2nd Liberty Loan which was floated as_ from Monday last. This sum< represents but five applications. From the above it is patent that most potential subscribers! have merely deferred action in the meantime. This attitude while quite permissable in itself is one which if generally adopted can only lead to the last minute stimul'ous which was required to meet the last Dominion effort by which £15,000,000 was raised 1 . The correct attitude is to ACT NOW AND ACT LIBERALLY. The Whakatane district is classed in the Thames Postal area for the purposes of the new loan so the figures when published under the Thames heading shoufd not be mistaken for covering that territory alone.
