Exemption Refused An application from a. resident of Eivers Road for exemption from the Borough Sanitary Service was refused by the Borough Council last Monday evening. j Auckland Sailors' Home "They are doing a great job of work," commented a Borough Councillor when speaking to a motion last Monday which authorised the donation of £1 per year to the Auckland Sailors' Home. Head, Secretary of the Whakatane branch of the U.S.A., that an application to the Borough Council for reserving an area for soldier interments in the local cemetery was made some time ago by his; Association and that this point had evidently been lost sight of at the Borough Council meeting last Monday. Bicycles on Footpaths The Borough Council last Monday evening decided that the Clerk be instructed 1 to write to the Sergeant of Police requesting appropriate action and respecting the practice of riding of bicycles on footpaths by children and adults, especially in the Kopeopeo district; that the Borough Inspector be instructed to take steps to check the practice, that the Headmaster be asked to communicate a warning to school children, and that the Council advertise in the Beacon that action is being taken.
